Today’s Worship Daily–November 16th, 2012

Greetings Saints!

Today’s Bible Reading & Verse

Ezekiel 38-39 and Philemon

“I will set My glory among the nations; all the nations shall see My judgment which I have executed, and My hand which I have laid on them. – Ezekiel 39:21

God is God. Because He is God, He is worthy of my trust and obedience. I will find rest nowhere but in His holy will, a will that is unspeakably beyond my largest notions of what He is up to. – Elisabeth Elliot

Today’s Song Story

Fairest Lord Jesus

While some have thought that this hymn was sung by the Crusaders on their way to the Holy Land, it was probably written later –– in the 17th century –– by followers of John Hus –– Moravians fleeing persecution –– seeking refuge in Silesia, which is now south-western Poland. If so, it is indeed a remarkable hymn, because it says nothing of their suffering and everything of their faith. It expresses great love of the beauties of nature –– meadows, woodlands, sunshine, moonlight, "and all the twinkling starry host." But "Jesus shines brighter, Jesus shines purer, Than all the angels heaven can boast."
