Today’s Scripture and Thought

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23 HCSB

There is a certainty that 100% of us will die. There is no escaping it, but this is not real death. Real death is complete separation from God and an eternity in Hell. I saw a plaque one day on a friend’s wall that said Hell was going to be one great big party. That is not what the bible says. It is a place of torment meant not for us, but satan and his demons. Those who refuse God’s offer of forgiveness will suffer the same eternal destiny as them. Why is hell necessary? All sin is ultimately against God and since God is an infinite and eternal being, only an infinite and eternal penalty is sufficient. Hell is the place where God’s holy and righteous demands of justice are carried out. Hell is where God condemns sin and all those who reject Him. The Bible makes it clear that we have all sinned , so, as a result, we all deserve to go to hell. However God gave us a way out through sending His Son Jesus to pay the penalty for sin in our place. The only thing God asks you to do now is to turn from your sin and accept Jesus as Lord of your life. Then real death will have no power over you. It will only mean passing from this life into an eternity with God where there is no sickness or sorrow any longer, but eternal joy.
